Ubisoft has today announced that Watch Dogs is a lot more popular than some may think, selling over 8 million copies since its launch in May, when it was made available for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, PS3 and PS4.

Just a day after its launch Ubisoft announced that it had become the fastest selling game on record so far, and in the first week sales surpassed 4 million units.

In their announcement the CEO and co-founder of Ubisoft said that this will mean that they will have room to “replicate and build on its success in the coming years.”, which could mean that the publisher may be looking to make a sequel or even a number of ties to the game.

Ubisoft also announced that their first quarter results were pretty high mostly due to Watch Dogs, achieving €360 million in sales revenue, a 374% increase from the same quarter last year.

Within that revenue, half of its sales were also for games on the PS4 and Xbox One.
