It hasn’t been long since 4G first hit the UK, but already we are aiming for big things, with new plans to increase the size of the 4G spectrum and to eventually grow to be a world leader in the technology.

With plans by the Ministry of Defense to release a new chunk of the spectrum for commercial use, Ofcom are hoping that they might be able to create further bandwidth with the use of the 190MHz radio spectrum, which will be freed up in order for Ofcom to sell of at auction.

The new bandwidth will allow carriers to offer higher speeds regardless of the amount of people signed up, and is actually 75% of the size of the entire range of spectrums that were sold off in February.

Ofcom says that the spectrum should be awarded by the financial year of 2015-2016.
