Microsoft has this revealed that they will be releasing a new version of Office for Mac before the year’s end, heavily upgrading it from the current version, which is still called Microsoft Office 2011, meaning Mac users end up with software much further behind that of Windows users, but probably for obvious reasons.

The new came from the head of Microsoft Office in Germany, Thorsten Hubschen, who revealed the details to MacWorld.

As of yet it’s unclear if Microsoft will be creating a stand-alone version of Office for Mac in order to compete with Apple’s free processing applications (only with new Macs), or if they will be bringing Office 365 to the Mac, however if we hear anything official on either of those two we will let you know.

The same goes for the release date, which is still yet to be confirmed exactly.
