Virgin Media has this week revealed that they will be competing with Sky, announcing that they will be launching their own 4K capable box later this year.

This is to compete with Sky’s Ultra HD ready Sky Q TV service, which will be granting subscribers access to the 4K content from Sky this summer.

Virgin Media revealed today that they plan to compete with this via their own 4K ready set top box, news which they revealed during their financial results this week.

As of yet, we don’t now what the box will look like, or the features that it will include, all we do know is that it will support Ultra HD video.

That said, we will probably hear more about it over the next few months.

We also expect a number of other set-top boxes with 4K content to launch over the course of this year, including from BT, Freeview and Freesat.
