After trailing the service was trailed during the London Olympics last year, Visa and Samsung have today announced that they will be expanding the service further to a global audience, via a pre-loaded app on Samsung phones called payWave, which will work with the in-built NFC module, which could be done just the same with a contactless Visa card, but gadgets will be gadgets.

The new deal will also allow banks to send payment account information over-the-air via a secure chip to be embedded in all future Samsung devices.

However its quite likely that the deal will not allow for competing card services, so bad news for non-Visa users.
