Vodafone has today announced that they will be scrapping the extra charges for data roaming or usage of minutes/ texts in other countries than the UK.

The new plan has been named Vodafone WorldTraveller and will allow Vodafone’s pay monthly customers to use their existing texts, minutes and data within their plan when in the USA, India, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, Qatar or South America.

However there is a catch, it will cost those users £5 a day to use, which is where it differs from Three’s plan, which is completely free.

Vodafone users can opt into the WorldTravller plan by called 5555 from a paricipating country, at which point they will be charged a £5 fee for each day they use mobile data or texts/ minutes there.

If the user only wants to travel in Europe than things are a little cheaper, as they will only need the Vodafone EuroTraveller add-on which currently costs an extra £2 a day. However that will be going up to £3 a day after August 31st.
