Most are used to seeing Angry Birds on the small screen, but soon they might also notice it on their big screen as the franchise is now moving into the movie industry, with the franchise’s creators Rovio confirming the upcoming release of the Angry Birds Movie.

This news comes after the developer laid off 130 employees last October with another 260 job cuts coming in the next few months and profits sinking by as much as 73 per cent in late 2014. Despite this the company is going ahead with the 3D animated film.

Described as an action comedy, the film will star Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, and Peter Dinklage, with production by Rovio Entertainment and Sony Pictures Imageworks.

The film is set to premiere in the US on May 20th, but in the meantime you can watch the new trailer below.
