Western Digital have today announced what they are claiming to be the world’s thinnest 1TB drive, dubbed the WD Blue, at just 7mm wide the new 2.5 inch drive is to be targeted at OEMs to allow them to offer thinner and lighter devices.

The WD Blue hard drive is fully compatible with 9.5mm drive slots found in mainstream notebooks and can be chosen with a variant of storage options, starting at 320GB and ending at 1TB in total.

The drive will also use WD’s ShockGuard, WhisperDrive and StableTrac technology, all keeping the drive safe on the move and quiet in use.

The WD Blue is available now through various distributors and retailers for $139.00 in the US, and will be covered by a two-year limited warranty.
