Today Western Digital (WD) announced a couple of new Solid State Drives (SSDs).

These new SSDs have been named the WD Blue and the WD Green and have been designed to be used by people who want to build their own PCs, featuring “near-maximum speed of SATA drives” and “best-in-class endurance” according to Western Digital.

The drives have been certified by MTTF and WD’s F.I.T Lab.

The SSDs will also come with a free download of the WD SSD Dashboard, allowing you to monitor capacity and performance.

Eyal Bek, senior director, Devices Bsiness Unit, Western Digital said the following about the new drives:

“There is significant demand among our core WD resellers and consumers for a broad set of flash-based storage options.”

“The expansive reach of the WD channel enables availability of a Western Digital SSD solution. We are very proud to have developed and launched WD Blue and WD Green SSDs, and believe they’ll provide the instant-on, reliability and capacity benefits our customers have been demanding.”
