Today the messaging app WhatsApp announced some brand new stats that shows their continuing popularity.

They revealed this news on their blog today, announcing that they have reached one billion daily active users, which is an incredibly high number. This is up from the number that they announced last year, which was one billion monthly actives instead of daily actives.

So of course, the monthly active users are up as well, with a total of 1.3 billion monthly active users.

To top that off, WhatsApp announced that these users are now sending 55 billion messages per day, 4.5 billion photos a day, and 1 billion videos a day.

This means that WhatsApp is getting even closer to their competitors, particularly Facebook, who announced that they were at 2 billion monthly active users back in June.

Facebook Messenger was also only at 1.2 million users back in April, Instagram revealed 250 million daily active users in June, and Snapchat is at the back with 166 million daily active users back in May.
