Since the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One was first launched, the PlayStation 4’s sales numbers had dwarfed that of the Xbox One’s in every month since last October.

That was despite December being one of the best months ever for the Xbox One sales.

However, Microsoft has this week brought an end to Sony’s winning streak and the Xbox One has finally outsold the PlayStation 4 in the US for the month of July.

This is huge news for Microsoft and was well-received by Xbox’s marketing boss Aaron Greenberg, who said the following on Twitter:

But Microsoft shouldn’t get too ahead of themselves, given that PlayStation has already sold around 43.5 million units to date, it would be a hard trek to reach similar numbers.

That said, it is pretty exciting news and it will be interesting to see how this changes in the near future.
