Microsoft has this week announced that a bunch of new applications will be coming to the Xbox One, with a number of applications coming specifically to the US, including Vine, HBO Go, US Twitter, ShowTime Anytime, Comedy Central, Major League Gaming and a few more.

For the US Twitter app, Xbox will integrate contextual tweets about the show that the user is currently watching on cable or satellite TV, and will even bring up real-time Tweets whilst users are in the OneGuide TV listings menu, with Tweets showing up in a “trending” section.

“People turn to Twitter every day to enjoy and engage in the real-time conversations about their favourite TV shows,” says Jana Messerschmidt, VP business development and platform at Twitter. “We’re enhancing that experience on the Xbox One with a unique Watch with Twitter integration. It will now be easier to discover what shows are trending in real-time on Twitter, tune-in and follow the conversation right from within the Xbox One interface. We are excited to work with the Xbox One team and continue to deliver unique entertainment experiences.”

In the UK specifically Sky will also be getting a new app on the next-generation console, the app will also allow for controls via voice command, allowing users to select movies just by speaking its name. There will also be a Now TV app for those who use the service.

In total there’s 255 apps that will be rolling out worldwide “by the end of this holiday season”.
