Xbox SmartGlass for Android and iPhone was announced to launch in early 2013, following the services launch on the Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and Windows RT this Friday.

The application will give you the ability to use your smartphone or tablet as a controller for your Xbox 360 as long as you are connected to the same network as the console itself, the app will give you control over your movies and music, transferring them from one device to the other, allowing you to pause on your tablet/ phone, resume or even use it as a second screen to view additional information on whatever you are viewing.

The application will also extend supported games allowing you to use the second screen to show a map on a game such as COD or even the next track to play on Dance Central 3, it can also be used as a remote for the new Xbox Internet Browser allowing you to use pinch-to-zoom functionality.

You will however need an Xbox Live Gold subscription for the application to work, but if you do you will be able to start using it from October 26th on Windows 8 and October 29th on Windows Phone 8.
