Bringing the version up to 5.0, Google has today announced the release of an updated version for the YouTube app on Android, featuring a brand new app icon and an entirely new card-style interface.

Alongside which there are new improvements to multitasking video-previews, as well as a new ability that allows users to move any video to a preview screen in the bottom right by swiping down or by pressing a new down arrow in the top left, allowing users to watch videos and navigate the app at the same time.

Tapping the preview will then resume it in full screen, or swiping to the side will exit the preview, and finally you can also slide the preview to the side to fade the volume.

On smartphones these gestures will only work in portrait mode, however on tablet they will work no matter the way you hold it, on tablets landscape mode is also no longer a full screen video.

Other updates include a new slide-out navigation bar, which now shows your history, favorites, playlists, uploads and watch later screens

And a lot more, for a good look download the update for yourself from the Google Play Store.
