The founders of YouTube, Chad Hurley and Steve Chen have today unveiled their own application to take on the likes of Vine and Instagram.

Backed by Google Ventures the new app which is called MixBit, will allow users to record 16 second clips of video, which can then be edited and even remixed with other people’s creations using the service.

Allowing you to create movies up to an hour-long, all submissions are anonymous and with no commenting system available, iOS users will be able to start creating their own movies from today.

Android users won’t have to wait too much longer however, as the pair have vowed that the app will hit the platform in the coming weeks.
