This week it was confirmed that YouTube has launched a new Community tab in a public beta, granting selected creators with the ability to share more content with their subscribers.

The Community tab adds a social media aspect to YouTube, allowing creators to post text, share GIFs, post live video and more.

Mobile users will see the new content in their subscriptions feed and will be able to get push notifications about the creator’s posts, beginning with the Vlogbrothers, The Kloons, AsapScience and a few other channels on the platform.

The Vlogbrothers showed a preview of it in their latest video.

The launch of this is in an effort to tackle other social media platforms that have been growing in video views recently, more specifically Facebook.

At the moment it is in a beta, however, you will probably see it rolling out across YouTube in a short time.
