Zoom has today launched their new iQ5 professional iOS stereo microphone for iOS users in the US, now available to purchase in the US for $100, the Zoom iQ5 has been designed to be used with the latest iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, equipped with a Lightning connection it is powered by the device and can be set to record at either a 80 or a 120 degree angle.

The microphone was first launched 3 months ago in Japan, but has now made it across the ocean, hopefully it might make it the UK at some point.

The Zoom iQ5 can also record incoming mid and side signals as well as RAW data using the Handy Recorder app, and features Linear PCM WAV format recording at 44.1kHz/16-bit audio resolution, or in a compressed AAC format.

Zoom also says the microphone can be used with any native iOS application that supports audio inputs from an external microphone, with up to 40dB of input gain available via the wheel at the side.
